Antique Autoperipatetikos China Doll, 10 3/4 IN, Ca. 1862 Label
Antique autoperipatetikus (walking) china doll with original paper label. Measures approximately 10 3/4 inches tall. Exquisite glazed porcelain shoulder head with elaborate hair do. Beautiful and fine brush marks decorate the edges of the hair. Skillfully and detailed painted facial features. Kid leather arms and hands. Set on mechanical carton base with brass feet. The base retains its ca. 1862 paper label. She is wearing a beautifully made cotton gown that is a vintage replacement. Walking mechanism works but there is no key. Doll is a bit top heavy and wobbly at the waistline. Beautiful early china doll for your collection!!
Condition: Very good condition with no chips or hairlines, Mechanism works and feet "walk" but doll is a bit wobbly at the middle and top heavy, Very nice replaced gown, Paper label has some bending and wear to the edges. NO KEY. Hair paint is very good - light areas are light reflections from camera equipment. Overall GORGEOUS!
