Gibsonville Doll Appraisal Fair
We had a great day appraising dolls at the Gibsonville Antique Mall with The Swell Doll Shop owner, Bradley Justice. Bradley is the recent recipient of the "Barbie's Best Friend" national award. We raised almost $400 for the Gibsonville Elementary School. 100 percent of our proceeds went to the school! We saw all varieties of dolls from antique to modern. Fun day with one of our favorite doll friends!
UFDC 2014 Convention, San Antonio, Texas
These are a few scenes from our sales booth at the United Federation of Doll Clubs convention in San Antonio, Texas. The convention was held at the lovely JW Marriott San Antonio Resort. One of the prettiest settings that we have ever had for this convention! Fabulous food, friendly staff, and beautiful surroundings!
We enjoyed visiting with all of our friends and customers. Sometimes, this is our "once a year" chance to visit! We were thrilled to win a ribbon for our booth decorations - our third in a row!!! The PINK cotton candy was a hit as usual too. Many of our dolls went home with their new families. |

ECOLE des POUPEES with Margaret Kincaid, Samy Odin and Ann Coleman
In February, we attended a delightful and informative three day seminar at the home of Margaret Kincaid. Programs on Jumeau dolls and their costumes were presented by Margaret, Samy Odin, and Ann Coleman. The programs were presented as lectures and hands-on discussions with beautiful Jumeau dolls, costumes, fabrics and patterns. OUTSTANDING! We were treated to French cooking, by our fabulous hostess, including rack of lamb! We made many new friends with varied doll interests. Margaret's home was exquisitely decorated with a lovely doll shoppe downstairs!

Two floors full of dolls, accessories, clothing and more. These are a few photos of our booth. We brought everything that we could "stuff" in a Chevy Suburban!! We had fun visiting with our friends at near by booths including Virginia Aris, Nancy McCray, Jennifer Hajowski & family, Phillip May, Howard and Jan Foulke, Madonna, Margaret Kincaid, Ron and Robyn of Atlanta, Marian Maus, Bridgette, Fritzi, Scott, Laura Turner, Peggy, Rob, Nancy & Ed and so many more fabulous dealers! We had a blast watching Peggy dance on Saturday night!!! Be sure to mark your calendars now for the December show on December 7 and 8, 2013!!!!
Antiques Roadshow 2013

I had a wonderful time meeting many wonderful guests at the Jacksonville, Florida "Antiques Roadshow" this past weekend. It was such a great experience to hear so many stories about the guests' dolls and teddy bears.
There was a huge, sell-out crowd that kept us taping until almost 9 pm! Jacksonville's weather was tropical and humid. "The" Ashley came with me to the show. We had a beautiful view of the waterway from our hotel room.
Super fun weekend except for the 2:30 am false fire alarm made possible by a group of teenagers after a 15 hour day doing the show. Ashley commented that it was quite fortunate that they did not run into the "mama" and the "school teacher" staying on the sixteenth floor!!! (That would be us and yes, we walked down 16 flights!!) I am looking forward to going to the Richmond, Virginia show in August. Stay tuned...........

Billye's Birthday Bash 2013

A few friends and family came by for a day of celebrating life, friendship and love. Everyone had a great time eating, visiting and making a few little goodies including these darling miniature cloth pugs!!! Life is a wonderful ride that is made even more special by the ones that love you despite how much you whine, fuss, make mistakes or your lack of sewing skills. I will always SMILE when I think of this very precious day with my closest and dearest soul mates! Domino appreciated all of the table scraps and Biff enjoyed being the center of attention!
March 2013 Gaithersburg Show

Our darling Kendall came by our booth for a visit and some dress-up time. Kendall loves vintage and antique clothing. She wears vintage clothing to school creatively added with jeans and modern tops. Kendall attended the doll show wearing a vintage slip/dress, Edwardian boots and a wide ribbon sash. She added a chapeau to her ensemble while visiting our booth. She actually added several vintage hats to her collection while shopping with us! Kendall has a bubbly personality that is only matched by her big, beautiful blue eyes! Kendall is planning to be a fashion designer when she grows up. We think modeling may be in her future too!
The show was well attended with many happy guests. We enjoyed being in our well lit new booth location upstairs. We had many of our regulars come by and visit, including a couple of friends from the United Kingdom (Trish & Roy). We are looking forward to returning for the June show.

Your support means so much to us!

Miss Eulalie's Homecoming

Miss Eulalie, our poor dear misplaced Southern French Fashion cousin, came for a visit over Labor Day weekend. She had just returned from a month long holiday in Paris so she had many wonderful adventures to tell us. She was greeted at her Homecoming Party by General and Mrs. Robert E. Lee. A southern menu of Fried Chicken, Barbeque, Potato Salad, Coleslaw and Lemon Tart was served. She was also entertained later in the afternoon with an ice cream sundae bar. Miss Eulalie was presented with many wonderful French Fashion gifts by her southern friends. Miss Eulalie presently resides in New York City with her delightful chaperones, Damon and Marcos.
