Antique Conta & Boehme German China Bald Head Doll 19 IN Original Mohair Wig
Antique Conta and Boehme china doll with her original wig. This Biedermeier was created in Germany in the 1850's. She measures approximately 19 inches long. She has a china head and arms/hands and a cloth body. She has painted blue eyes, eye brows, nostril openings and a beautifully detailed closed mouth. She has no maker's marks. There is a small incision at the back of her head but it does not represent anything. She is wearing her circa 1850's cotton print two piece gown, antique chemise with lace, antique petticoat with lace, antique pantaloons with lace, antique cotton knit striped socks, antique red leather shoes, and a replaced vintage bonnet. At some point, many years ago, someone recovered her body with an antique cotton knit stockinette to stabilize a sawdust filled cotton body made in the 1850's. She is also wearing her original German mohair wig with two braids at the back. Beautiful early china doll for your collection!!
Condition: China head and arms/hands have no hairlines or chips or restoration. Body has antique stockinette covering. Some firing kiln specks on the china. Antique cotton dress has some frail places, fade and light damage but it is overall sturdy enough for wear and display. Some age staining to undergarments. Antique shoes have some missing stitches in their seams and replaced ties.
